The existing 40-year-old train control systems on the CTA Brown Line between Armitage and the Merchandise Mart were upgraded to include new vital train detection, cab speed controls, and 3 new relay houses. The design-build work also involved aspects of civil/structural, mechanical, and communications. Construction was phased to focus on interfacing new additions with existing devices while minimizing impacts to revenue service.
