SQN provided resident engineering services for the replacement of the locomotive sanding system at Metra/Union Pacific Railroad’s M19 Diesel Shop. The project upgraded the outdated sanding system with a more efficient conveying system that reduced maintenance and sand waste while improving operations. As the sole field and office representative, SQN managed construction coordination, contract administration, quality oversight, and project documentation while coordinating with Metra, Union Pacific Railroad, and the contractor. Construction was completed during off-shift hours to maintain active rail yard operations and keep the existing sanding system in service throughout the work.
