Metra Z-100 Fox River Bridge

A 137-year-old single-track Metra bridge across the Fox River in Elgin, originally constructed in 1891, was replaced with a modernized structure allowing for more efficient traffic through the area. Phase I consisted of constructing a new single-track bridge to the south of the existing bridge, while Phase II involved expanding Phase I piers to the north to support additional steel beams and an expanded steel bridge deck.
