An 8-mile southern extension that added 4 stations to the existing NICTD South Shore Line (SSL) between Dyer and Hammond, Indiana. Trains on this new extension connect SSL and the Metra Electric District all the way to Millennium Station in downtown Chicago, thereby expanding NICTD’s service coverage and connecting northwest Indiana with Chicago and Cook County, Illinois.
